  47. Hi,
  48.  I am sending this mail for a friend, kt5x, who does not have
  49. internet access. He has a Collins KWM-380 transceiver and a Yaesu ST7000
  50. amp. He would like to conenct his computer between to two so the
  51. computer can check the transceivers frequency and when he changes
  52. bands the computer will issue the commands to his yaesu amp to switch 
  53. bands.
  54.  In otherwords, the computer will allow him to switch bands
  55. from his transceiver without having to touch his amp. 
  56.  
  57.  The problem is that he does not have the computer interface
  58. information for his Collins transceiver for either the hardware connection
  59. and the software commands.
  60.  
  61.    He also does not have the commands needed to talk to his Yaesu amp. 
  62. He has written Yaesu several but has never gotten a response. 
  63.  
  64.  Can anyone out in netland help him out?

  111. I have connected FT-470 to cigarette lighter in my car and I am using a mag
  112. mount antenna (MFG). I do have mic-speaker connected also. I find that when
  113. the car is in motion there is lot of noise (static) but as soon as the car
  114. is idle, the noise dies and the signal is 5-9+.
  115. Can someone recommend me, what I should do to correct the problem ?

  288. Just a note, the Kenwood 599 twins do not have a matching power supply
  289. speaker.  The speaker is just a speaker.  The power supply for each
  290. unit is built into the radios.  It is all there, its just that the 
  291. supply is in the radio boxes, not in the speaker box.

  416.   A handy device if you happen to own a large boat, but you don't ever
  417. want to have to press that "AGROUND" button....
  418.  
  419.   The public address system in it would be useful, but the button noises
  420. would tend to annoy people after a while.  Example: FOG1 is probably
  421. a four second blast every two minutes.

  448. If you are looking into one for your home, yes you need a supply.  In your
  449. car, of course, you just hook into the 12v system.  A cheap way to operate
  450. a 12v amp in your house is to buy a decent size Gell-Cell (SLA) and float a
  451. charger across it.  The battery will give you all the current you need and
  452. can be obtained from swap meets etc.  The charger does not need to have a
  453. high current output (1 amp would suffice).  One thing to keep in mind is that
  454. using this method, you can't talk all day long and expect the battery to hold
  455. out.  SLA's can be deep cycled, but will last much longer if you can avoid
  456. deep cycling.
